1880’s Baseball Ring Bat used by Sam Chase of Yale University
For your consideration is an incredibly rare baseball bat from the 1880's. It is one of only a handful of bats that we have owned from this era of the National Pastime. This is an 1880’s Baseball Ring Bat used by Samuel M. Chase during his years at Yale University. His initials are found on the reverse of the center label, in his hand. Samuel Chase was a young Connecticut ballplayer who played during the 1880's. The bat itself is a magnificent period ring bat made of Willow, that measures 36 inches in length. The maker is L. C. Dole & Co., located in New Haven, CT. Prior to acquiring this bat we were unaware of this maker. The center logo and design, and the rings flanking it makes for a spectacular look, very consistent with the style this time period. The bat remains in exceptional condition and makes for a spectacular display. An outstanding museum quality bat!
