Here we are offering a Vintage Rowing Trophy from 1885. The trophy was presented to J. Bradlee (rower) No. 7 of the Harvard freshman class of 1888. The race took place on the Thames River in New London, Connecticut on June 25th, 1885. The copy of the wonderfully written and very colorful article, from the Boston Daily Globe will accompany the trophy. It is loaded with details from the race which include a Harvard victory of better than ten boat lengths! The article also confirms J. Bradlee No.7 as a member of the winning team. The trophy was made by the the Wilcox Silverplate Company and it stands 7 inches tall and measures 8 inches wide. A wonderful piece of Ivy League Rowing memorabilia from 1885. A scarce and novel addition to any vintage sports collection.
