1951 Jim Thorpe Signed Postcard from the opening of Henry Modell’s Sporting Goods Store in Newark, NJ

This exceptional vintage football item is a 1951 Jim Thorpe Signed Postcard from the opening of Henry Modell’s Sporting Goods Store in Newark, NJ. As a one day event, for the opening of a sporting goods store, this was a short print for this postcard in an of itself. This extremely rare postcard features on the front an iconic Red Grange image wearing a leather football helmet. It reads "I am happy to join in the celebration of my friend Henry Modell upon the opening of his sporting goods store." Below that is the date of December 5th, 1951 and the location of Newark, NJ. The back of the postcard features many of Jim Thorpe's accomplishments in all sports. Thorpe signed and dated the back, 1951. This item originates directly from a New Jersey gentleman who attended the event and had the postcard signed in person. It was folded in half at one time and presents very nicely.
