Circa. 1905 Mushroom - Double Knob Style Baseball Bat, William Reed & Sons

This very scarce baseball bat is shown in the 1905 William Read & Sons Equipment catalog. It is labeled as their PREMIER BAT. The bat is described in the catalog (shown) as, “a great favorite with prominent professional players, the knob on the end making an evenly balanced Bat throughout.” The bat itself is very rare as William Read & Sons was a very small time sporting goods line. That being said, they did produce very high quality goods. The bat possesses an ideal patina that works well with the natural wood grain and flame tempering.
