Outstanding MINT 1940’s Baseball Catcher’s Mitt from Japan
Most of the baseball glove collecting community tends to shy away from gloves that were not produced in the USA. The leather did not compare to those made in the USA, and the overall quality and design were typically poor. The mitt that we offer here was made in Japan, but the leather, design and overall quality are remarkably excellent! It’s a very interesting catcher’s mitt with great markings and visual appeal. A favorite marking is the “Strong The Thumb” marking on the face of the mitt with a Japanese letter below. Another great feature is the original string tag from the “SHIPS STORE” which was located in Yokosuka. Have a look at the images. It is a very unusual mitt! The condition is MINT, never used.
